Recent announcements suggest that our state may delay the first major milestone of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act—70% renewable electricity by 2030—and instead push for nuclear power as a solution. But we know better: nuclear energy is too toxic, too dangerous, too expensive, and too slow to be part of our clean energy future. On Thursday, September 5th, Governor Hochul will host a summit in Syracuse to unveil a blueprint that could prioritize nuclear power. This summit takes place on unceded Onondaga land in Central New York, where the effects of nuclear energy's toxic legacy are felt daily. Join us outside the Syracuse Marriott Downtown Hotel at 12:00 PM (local time) to stand for true climate justice. Let’s demand investment in proven, safe, and renewable energy solutions like wind, solar, electrified public transit, and other proven CLEAN energy methods. The press conference and picket will start at 12:30 PM. We encourage you to wear a mask due to high COVID-19 levels. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided.
